ATEMPO - Company VAYA

Atempo is a contemporary circus show premiered in 2016 that narrates the evolution of humanity and reflects on the relationships between men and women throughout history. It invites the audience to imagine the future of humanity by connecting past, present, and future perspectives through a participatory interaction where spectators' voices become part of the show’s soundscape.

With impressive hand-to-hand acrobatics, contemporary dance, and the humour of physical theatre, Atempo offers an original and entertaining take on today's humanity. The show has won the Audience Award at Festiclown 2018, Sarmede 2019, and Mimos 2023, standing out as a unique and transformative experience.

I SEE YOU - Company VAYA

I SEE YOU is a contemporary circus show that invites the audience to delve into the mind of a woman, revealing her inner world and the mechanisms of her thoughts. Inspired by the film Inside Out and the documentary Human, the piece takes the audience on a journey of self-discovery and a dialogue with our inner shadows, in contrast to the accelerated pace of technological advancements.

The narrative unfolds through a voiceover expressing internal reflections and conflicts, while four acrobats of different nationalities interact on stage, presenting different perspectives on how a woman faces the dilemmas in her life.

Arvorecer - Berna Huidobro

Arvorecer is a site-specific performance that combines relational art and participatory installations, paying homage to the natural landscape and the strength of human relationships. The piece advocates for collectivity as a model of social organisation and nature as a reference for rebuilding the language of bonds and coexistence.

It is an immersive experience where the audience becomes active participants in a symbolic journey that questions how we inhabit and relate to our surroundings. Inspired by the intelligence and thinking of plants, Arvorecer draws on the research of philosopher Michael Marder and neurobiologist Stefano Mancuso to explore how trees and plants communicate and organise themselves in networks.

Through sensory and collective practices, Arvorecer blurs the boundaries between humans and trees, inviting reflection on how we coexist and find harmony within the ecosystem to which we belong.

Capital - La Kanita Callejera

A street theatre performance with live music and nine artists on stage that, through highly expressive choreography, portrays episodes of urban life, such as public transport, the housing market, and the influence of the media. Using a direct and ironic language, the piece questions the capitalist system, addressing themes such as the transformation of citizens into consumers and the social pressure to conform to imposed standards.

Premiered in 2010 at the VI International Theatre Encounter Achupallas, a cultural hub in Viña del Mar, the piece had a successful run at the Plaza de la Cultura in Estación Mapocho in 2011, before touring various metropolitan parks in Santiago and different regions of Chile. It became established as a critical and participatory proposal that resonates with the reality of urban life.

La Gran Ciudad - La Kanita Callejera

La Gran Ciudad is a performance in the style of Commedia dell’Arte, featuring archetypal characters with expressive body language who use masks and live music. The piece tells the story of a family who, upon leaving their small town to visit a "big developed city", falls victim to a deceptive guided tour led by two con artists. Through comical and absurd situations, the conflicts and issues of contemporary urban life are brought to light.

Premiered in 2008, La Gran Ciudad was performed in squares, parks, and schools across various Chilean cities, as part of festivals and social programmes that brought theatre to community spaces.

Performance 25 Abril 2024

Directed by Berna Huidobro and Gabriela Espinoza, this historical and participatory performance was presented at Gil Eanes Square in Lagos as part of the official 25th April commemoration. Produced by TEL and featuring 12 students, the work paid tribute to the ideals of the Carnation Revolution through street theatre, inviting the audience to actively participate in the commemoration.

With a symbolic scenic language, the staging recreated key moments in the struggle for freedom and hope, transforming the square into a space for reflection and collective celebration.

Almaradentro

Almaradentro questions the gap between the realities of the interior and the coast, the urban and the rural, the foreign and the familiar, the external and the internal, using Algarvian identity as its central axis. The piece reflects on the standardised view of these identities and seeks to merge them to deconstruct the perception of separate realities and open new perspectives on the fragmented identity of the region through a contemporary lens.

The performance uses five bodies as living witnesses of Algarve's traditional identity, creating an open dialogue that invites the audience to question who we are and explore new forms of integration and connection between different communities and backgrounds.

Ecosofia

"Ecosofía" is a physical theatre and contemporary circus performance created by the Vaya company, contemplative in nature, that invites the audience to reflect on the relationship between humans and nature from a poetic and philosophical perspective.

The staging stands out for its meticulous multimedia work, using two screens that project visuals in dialogue with the performance. Both the sound design and the visual projections are precisely synchronised with the acrobatic execution and the performers' spatial movements, creating an immersive atmosphere.

The direction was led by Camila Rojas Cannobbio, and the production was funded by the Fondart Regional Creation Grant 2018. "Ecosofía" invites the audience to experience an aesthetic and reflective journey on the coexistence between humans and their environment, appealing to sensitivity and ecological awareness.

Barbelix

Inspired by the secrets of the beard passed down from our ancestors, this small group made up of three generations that represent most families — grandson, father, and grandfather — is here to offer a demonstration of strength and humour.
Through an exceptional acrobatic performance, the inner strength of each character is revealed, challenging the limits of family dynamics.
A comedic invitation to rediscover each person’s potential and laugh at our own struggles, transforming them into great opportunities... A true invitation to rediscover our bodies and the diversity of strength!
